Workshop Week 2022 📬

If you watched my workshop during Workshop Week 2022 and want to jump feet first into snail mail, I have so many resources I would love to share with you!

Snail mail can be as simple + sweet or as extra + eye-catching as you want it to be. Here are some resources, product links, and idea lists to help amp up your letter-writing. Some links are affiliate links, just a heads up!

Want to be able to watch my Envelope Art 101 workshop forever, whenever you wish? Purchase access to the Vault! The price increases after Workshop Week concludes so get in there early and enjoy all the lessons at your own pace.

Postage Stamps!

You can, of course, order modern sheets from USPS to decorate your envelopes (and remember, a Forever stamp is good forever! When the price changes, its value changes, too). But you don’t have to stop there! There are plenty of online vendors who sell vintage and modern postage, categorized either by design or in grab-bag fashion so you get a good mix of colors, stamp values, shapes, and sizes, all of which add plenty of visual interest to your envelope art!

Extra Envelope Goodies!

Once my letter is written, I love adding little gifts and treats into an envelope to accompany my missive. Here’s a smattering of ideas on how to add personality and pizzazz to your envelope contents!

Stickers!

I love to keep cute stickers on hand to add to the contents of a letter. It’s an affordable little gift the recipient can add onto their hydroflask or notebook and will remind them of the letter you sent them.

Washi Tape!

Wrap 8-12 inches or so of washi tape around a business card-size scrap of paper. It will peel cleanly from the paper and your recipient can use to to decorate their planner or seal an envelope that’s headed to you!

Facial Masks!

These may put you over the 1 ounce limit of a single Forever stamp, but that’s ok! Add more stamps to mail a facial mask to a friend who needs some TLC.

Candy!

That’s right! If it lays flat enough that it doesn’t change the shape of your envelope, you can send candy! Airheads are the perfect snail mail candy because they’re flat as can be (and also tasty as can be.)

Art Prints!

A small art print is a wonderful gift to receive AND you’re supporting a working artist by purchasing their work! So many talented artists out there making affordable prints.

Teabags!

Include a packet of your favorite teabag with your snail mail. It lets your reader know a little bit more about you and its a soothing treat they may not have known they needed!

Paper Ephemera!

Lovely little die-cut images and scraps of paper tumbling out of an envelope is an essential delight for any snail mailer.

Scented Sachets!

I would say of all the senses neglected when it comes to snail mail, scent ranks fairly high up. But a flat sachet is not only a useful gift, but a surprising one that is sure to tickle your reader.

Vintage Postcards!

I love rifling through vintage postcards! I have a collection that I’ve sorted by location and when I send letters, I try to include a postcard from near where the recipient lives. Or old photographs! Those are always interesting.

Nailwraps!

This is a very fun and unexpected gift to fit in a letter. I really like Nails Mailed’s wraps — they’re affordable and come in lots of cute prints. Feel free to use the coupon code JILLIANKAYE to get 10% off your order!

Iron-On Patches!

Lays flat, super cute, AND fashionable? What’s not to love? I’ve been able to find iron-on patches at dollar stores, even! I love when extra goodies are also extra affordable.

Wax Seals!

These are great to decorate your own mail with or to include as a gift within the envelope. You can make your own with a seal, wax, and a candle or buy some premade ones off Etsy.
